FAQS
There are very few questions we haven’t already been asked, so do let us know if you are still unsure about anything. We want to make sure you get the right bike for your child. Here’s a few of the most common questions to help.
You will see an age and size guide against each bike, or we’ve put together this bike finder – click here. For balance bikes we recommend that your child can easily place both feet flat to the floor with a slight bend to the knee while seated. For 16″ first pedal bikes, the seat height should allow your child to easily touch the ground while they are gaining confidence. Measure the inside leg and use the chart above to match the appropriate bike.
Stock dependent – bikes are shipped same day and should be received within 3 working days.
It’s easiest all round of you make sure the bike you are buying is the right fit for your child before you order. Ask if you are unsure, bikes are large items to ship so sending one back is expensive. Of course, if the bike is the wrong size when you receive it or you’ve changed your mind and you want to return it you must let us know within 14 days of receipt. You must return it in its original packing within 30 days. Shipping is at your own cost but we can always help with the return and deduct the shipping cost from your refund. In all instances please contact us first.
We offer a 1-year warranty on parts. However always contact us even if your bike is outside of warranty and we’ll do what we can to get your bike back on the road.
Get in touch with us and we will put you in touch with a retailer in your area.
We don’t supply kickstands, but some of our bikes will take an aftermarket kickstand. Speak to your local bike store for advice.
Some of our bikes will take an aftermarket mudguard, take advice from your local bike store to see which is best.
Little people don’t have the same power to weight ratio as adults so they need all the help they can get when it comes to riding a bike.
Stabilisers (or “training wheels”) go against the fundamentals of what we try to do with our bicycle range. A balance bike enables a child to safely and intuitively gain their balance on two wheels at a very young age. Once they are ready for pedals they will naturally graduate to a larger bike using the same acquired balancing skills. Adding stabilisers at this stage is therefore unnecessary and counter-intuitive. On those first few rides on a pedal bike keep the seat low so they can use their legs as natural stabilisers (as they would have done on their balance bike), then slowly raise the seat height as they become more and more confident. You’ll be amazed at how easily they transition from balance bike to pedal bike.
The best way to start your child off on a bike is to get them going as early as possible. The sooner the better, ideally starting off with a balance bike around their second birthday. At this age they are naturally acquiring gross motor skills, exploring their abilities on two feet, running, leaping, climbing etc. Getting them on a bike at this stage will help develop those gross skills as well as giving them confidence and most importantly, it’ll be loads of fun!
